Polysyndetic listing is the use of multiple conjunctions, one after another in a list. Eg. "They walked and jumped and laughed and smiled." Asyndetic listing is when the conjunctions in the list are replaced mostly by commas, eg. "They walked, jumped, laughed and smiled." These techniques can change the rhythm of the sentence, altering the pace perhaps or the tone.
