Revising for a university history exam

I am currently in my first year studying history at university, I have 3 exams in may, and I am wondering if anyone has any advice as to how to revise for both my open book and in person history exams. They are all essay question papers on various topics.

I don't do history I do biomed, so not that similar at all but we do have exam essay questions as well. For my in person exams I just made essay plans and learned them as best I could, sorry it's a really basic answer and I know our courses and nowhere near similar but I didn't do too bad in my exams
