might be taking a gap year

Im waiting to hear from one uni at the mo, but if i dont get a place, it looks like ill be a second time applicant for vet med! if it comes to me taking a gap year, i would love to go away and do some conservation work with animals, particularly interested in elephants. does anyone know any good links/places that do this kind of thing?

I got a good brochure through from global vision international... you can work with baby turtles in Panama!!!

http://www.gapyear.com lists placements with hundreds of organisations, and its all nicely arranged to sort through.

I'm doing a wildlife course here: http://www.moholoholo.co.za/
with African conservation Experience (http://www.conservationafrica.net/projects/moholoholo.php)

my friend last year got rejected from all of the places he applied to do vetinary medicine so he was forced to do a gap year whilst he re-applied. He's spending three months in Africa where you do various conservation work and looking after animals, safari work and all that sort of stuff. I think it cost £2500 and the injections that you have to have before you go costs about £500. If you're interested I'll try and find the contact details about it from him!
