No you don't, it all depends on what you class as fun.

Newcastle, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol....those are all the typical student cities but not everyone's idea of fun.

What sort of "fun" are you looking for, OP?

I didn't think law degrees were supposed to be fun...

I know law is really really difficult and at somewhere like Cambridge I'll be working 24/7. I'd like to know places that I good to study at but also give you some time for yourself! (if there are any places that are like that for law?)

Bristol, Leicester, Manchester... are you looking for campus or city OP?

For university comparisons

Although there are a lot more "good" law departments than those listed (the rest of the redbricks plus Kent, Reading and some of the new universities etc. can all pack a puch even if they aren't quite on the same level as those listed in the sticky)

Any degree (even at Oxford or Cambridge) requires hard work but despite the reputation Oxford and Cambridge have for intensive courses you still have enough time to enjoy yourself and pick up extra-curriculars or just party. It's all down to time management and organisation. So, if Oxford or Cambridge are out of the question then UCL, Durham, KCL, Bristol, Nottingham, Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle....

Like I said, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol, Liverpool etc. are the typical student and party cities. But it all comes down to whether you prefer Small city or lage city, city based or campus based. There are plenty of smaller cities that offer a good student scene and "fun". If you go to uni, with loads of young like-minded people and find yourself bored then you're a boring person

Psh, I wouldn't be put off applying to Oxbridge simply because you think you won't have fun owing to the work! Oxbridge law is hard but you'll definitely have enough time to have a life and have fun as well. I don't do law admittedly but I manage to work only approximately 15-20% of my waking hours and still have good grades rolling in, and my friends in law are probably the same - albeit slightly higher on the study time percentages.
Studying Law at Kent University is very fun! The city is great and people are really friendly and there is approx' 6/7 student bars/restaurants and some of the funniest societies i have seen listed at Universities. I recommend University of Kent 100%. Including that it is 6th for Law Research which is higher than Cambridge! Definitely something to consider there!
