Basically, it has been a year and half since my German was at a respectable level, and require urgent help translating the following!

I've asked for this thread to be moved to foreign languages. Hopefully a native would be able to take a look but I'd say something like:

Vielen Dank fuer die Geburtstagswuensche! Dies ist nur eine kleine Nachricht. Ich versuche, eine laengere Nachricht zu schreiben aber leider dauert es eine Weile, da ich mein Deutsch seit langem nicht genuzt habe.

Lol yeah. We used to speak in german accents in the office and make things up because we had a lot of german clients, so kind of an inside joke LOL.

The word order is quite wrong there and there are bits that don't make a lot of sense. Not a bad effort though.

Thats my personal favorite absurd German joke, it is worryingly one of the only german phrases I know besides asking where the bus/train station is. Most Germans do not find it funny.

Danke für die Geburtstagswünsche! I wollte nur kurz sagen dass ich versucht habe, eine längere Danke-brief zu schreiben, aber es dauert eben ein bisschen länger, weil es eine Wiele her ist seit ich mein Deutsch geübt habe!
