So have I! AAB?
I've got an audition for University of Kent in a fortnight and I have one for Exeter 31st Jan-1st Feb!

Just waiting to hear from Rose Bruford now but I know they don't start giving out auditions until January time as they are between january and April!

Exeter is my first choice, fell in love with it on the open day, although Kent looks incredible because it is the equivalent of a Masters undergrad (MDrama) as it is for 4 years rather than 3!
xXx

My Exeter audition is the 1st-2nd any chance you could post up how it went/what sort of stuff they asked you to do please???

that was meeeee i think!

it was fine! i was proper scared though. workshop was just exploring ways of leading with different parts of your body, movement etc.

interview was scary, they quiz you on your personal statement a lot but just sound enthusiastic and you will be fine!!!

devised piece was ok, they seem to mark you on how well you cooperate in a group, so just look like you are helping the group, dont talk over anyone, listen etc!!

you will be fine --- good luck!!!

Hey just one quick question about the interview- may sound silly but what did you wear?! They said to wear loose clothes and no need to bring formal interview clothes but I think I'd feel a bit weird doing an interview in tracksuit bottoms...
I haven't heard from Surrey yet, but I've got an Audition at Folkestone for Performing Arts. I hope I do hear from Surrey soon, I really loved the Course there!

You've got ages before you need to choose, why not visit each of them and see? When I got an offer last year from Birmingham, we got a post-offer day (coincidentally I thought the drama department seemed awful, but maybe that's just me!) Both are quite busy cities, but I think Leeds has the edge as far as social life goes... But yes, go visit! Contact the unis to organise proper visit days if you can, with a student ambassador and hopefully looking around the departments.

Thankyou for the advice! Iv'e visited them both twice :P once for an open day and a second for interview/auditions. I dont think the parents will pay for another train ticket haha! And really?! What did you dislike about it? And are you studying drama at uni now? If so where?
PS: sorry about the million questions.... haha

The lecturers didn't have a clue who their audience were (we were all post-offer applicants), and audience is something that you'd expect theatre academics to know. They didn't seem to know what they were talking about. But also the course didn't seem to be what I was looking for, and I didn't see much as far as industry links. Also it was contrasted by the English talk, the guy who took that was the joint honours tutor, knew exactly what he wanted to talk about, was incredibly charismatic etc.

Have a look on both websites, have a look at the courses and see what modules interest you. Also look at other factors, ie accommodation, travel, social life, societies. It's worth looking at things like industry links and stuff too.

In other words, are you looking for a fairly practical course, or a more theory based course? Look for those things first, and then work your way around.

In answer to your other question, I'm not a student atm, I'm on a gap year, applying to Salford and Falmouth.

Re Surrey - perhaps you should give them a ring (I had a few problems emails going straight to spam - no idea why).. It is their UCAS day tomorrow (assume there'll be another but don't know). I loved the course there too - have had an offer from them so am going tomorow... Would hate for you to miss out... I rang Bristol and they confirmed they'd invited me to interview and I received a letter the next day so it can't hurt!.. Good luck!

Awww well done! Thats great news  I'm still waiting-starting to think it's gonna be a rejection atm, i've been waiting for so long now :\ Oh well-i'm more fussed about Exeter tbh, so i'm just going to give it my all on monday and tuesday! xx

Sorry I missed this .. what did you think of the workshop?... did they ask you about the theatre you'd seen?... Didn't discuss my personal statement at all... all she wanted to know about was my maths retake! (which is additional to my grade predictions so technically irrelevant!)... I think the whole process went on too long even though I 'embraced' being a pebble!!.. Don't know really if me and exeter liked eachother... still want them to want me though - but I'll be surprised if they do..

Off to Surrey tomorrow for UCAS day - already have my offer so no pressure...

Of the people I spoke with in Exeter none of them had heard from Bristol... which is a surprise frankly so I wouldn't give up hope - they're obviously really backlogged and they may be doing it in receipt order (my statement was submitted back in October time)..

Anyway - good luck

Well done to you too!! Applying for competitive courses, though...Its a bitch! :')
I found out I was one of the last twenty for MT, and they're taking ten for places, so It reassures me after all my niggling doubts on whether I'm good enough to go to drama school this year  even if I don't get a place...
I know, its AMAZINGGG. I would absolutely love to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I swear I've checked my UCAS about six times a day, even though they said it would be one to two weeks, and its only been four days...

Hey Laura,
How did you find this out? I had my recall on the 24th for MT too, though I don't think it went too well :/ I was only in there for like 5 mins, they didn't workshop any of my speeches or anything, so things don't look too hopeful :frown: which is a shame because this is my ideal course, an acting degree specialising in MT and such an amazing place! What did you have to do in your audition?

Hey  No worries! Personally I really, really enjoyed the whole experience. Mind you, I found the strong emphasis on movement in the workshop and the devised piece quite a challenge-that's not naturally where my strengths lie. Having said that, I enjoyed trying something a bit different! The interview seemed to go pretty well, she asked me the movement question luckily so I had enough to talk about, but I know some people didn't get asked it at all. And they asked nothing about my PS either! The best aspect of the department for me was the friendly atmosphere-everyone I met was so lovely and willing to help/answer questions. I'd really love to go there but have no idea if i'll get in!!

Out of interest-which devised piece were you in? I was in the last one (being the clockhands at the start if you're wondering!!)

Thanks for the info about Bristol-I won't give up hope then! And enjoy your UCAS day tomorrow  xx

Heya

Im applying for SM but i had an interview at central and the process was the same for all of the technical courses so any questions feel free to ask...
What advice are you looking for regarding your portfolio??
xxx

heyyy, well as I am applying as a mature student (25 - hardly mature!!) I was wondering if I can put a mixture of things in it, obviosuly I have been working for the last 5 years and not studying, so I don't have a whole lot of stuff to show other than things I have done for fun... How did you display yours? Can I put ideas in for future projects that I haven't made? .... I have picked 2 pictures to take with me...on a search for the 3rd one, and the object I have has a kind of funny but not very meaningful story... What will we do with the pictures? As one of them is from a book and I considered bringing the book with me as my object..but then of course I will have 2 more pictures to find!

How long does it take until you find out whether or not you got in?

thanks for your help darlin, much appreciated

I had an interview to study BA Drama at Queen Mary last week and was told on the day an offer would be made to me

Delighted with this because the workshop was great and the place had a great feel to it.

Has anyone else been offered a place AND has anyone heard from York for the BA Writing, Directing and Performing yet ?

Bonjour!
Happy to help with RADA/East 15/Manchester Met queries

A friend of mine has received a conditional from East 15 before he has even auditioned (he has no idea what's going on). Is this normal?
Reply 358
heeey. If anyone lives around the manchester area theres a workshop i've heard about for people who have applied for drama schools etc. Its like a mock audition type thing i think, which is cool. I'm pretty nervous for mine so i think it could help me. Anyway, just thought some of you might be interested. xxx http://www.happystormtheatre.co.uk/#/audition-workshop-flyer/4548050124
