What was the first time you ever taught like?
Im at a point where i know what i want to do- teach, ive even got a place on a PGCE course for next year
Ive got shed loads of experience in a TA role but ive never actually stood in front of the class and taught. Ive left it so long that the pressure feels so high! Im actually dreading that first time and i shouldnt be. After christmas i start a maths with education module which involves taking part or all of a lesson at some point so i will eventually do this- i have no choise in the matter. I just dont know how to!
Any advice?

They are lovely (eventually..) but it doesn't demean their stress, they both take weeks of planning and preparation.

Good luck with your operation, do you still get to eat lots of ice cream? Or is that a myth?

Last day of my placement today, I almost don't want to go in and have to deal with it :frown:

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad to have stopped teaching for a while, but I don't want to leave the school, particularly my mentor :frown:

I bloody hope so. 5 infections in a year is pretty annoying! Although I have one colleague who reckons they might not want to do it because the older you are the more you bleed or something? I am only 25 and she was 55 when they told her that, but still. I have a consultation next week, so we'll see!

My very first lesson was quite stressful. I beat myself up about it afterwards, as I didn't fit the plenary in and the children were quite noisy. However, I think you have to expect the first time to be a little tense. After all, if is brand new for you and for the children. My mentor said the main thing is to get up there and have a go. You can work on the little issues in your future lessons and you shouldn't worry too much, because even fully qualified teachers have the ocassional bad lesson. :smile:

Plus, you never know, it might go really well. :biggrin:

I was lucky, I only had to see the specialist twice before they put me on the waiting list, but then my tonsils are really big and scarred so I guess it depends on a case by case basis. There is an increased risk of bleeding, and they recommend you take 2 weeks off.

It'll all be worth it in the end :smile:

I'm lactose intolerant so won't be eating any ice cream :frown:

Up at 7am to sit all my QTS tests....can I now celebrate? No blinkin' chance! My list for today is year 7 marking, year 10 marking, plan 4 lessons, start assignment... o, and maybe put the christmas tree up!

Well, you won't have to write essays once you've finished your training and when you've been doing it a few years, planning goes out of the window. Some of the best lessons I've had have been made up as I've turned the doorhandle to enter the classroom. :redface:

Finished the first half of my second placement yesterday and have taken the bold decision to take the whole weekend off. No planning, assignment writing etc for me until Monday, feels amazing!

It's hit me, I'm finally sick!! With a week to go I'm amazed it only got me at the end. My voice has gone, my brain has stopped working and I don't remember what smelling felt like. THREE DAYS OF PLACEMENT LEFT.

I've got a feeling I'm heading the same way - No illness since PGCE started, but I have a tickly throat..COME ON immune system :redface:

I got sent home, I could barely make it up the stairs. Why is science always on the top floor lol
