Girls: No DIY 2013!

You may have seen the guys have a thread going to do with seeing who can get through (the rest of) 2013 without masturbating. I think around 45-50 have signed up so far.

A couple of people asked whether there could be a similar challenge for girls; I've decided to start one. The idea is to achieve a redirection of our spiritual, sexual and physical energies away from the selfish and ultimately unproductive activity of masturbation toward other, more constructive things. For those who are single this could mean doing more socialising, playing sports, studying or whatever, and for those in relationships it means having sex with the men we love, rather than just satisfying ourselves.

The rules are that any sexual activity that involves touching yourself with your hand, a sex toy or anything else is out, but doing anything that involves touching or being touched by your boyfriend/husband/FWB is all good.

I've never masturbated, I find the idea gross, so I know for certain I won't be doing it in 2013, so I'll be the first to sign up. Anyone else care to join me?

I love how the male thread is really popular...the women one not so much

The point isn't that masturbating is gross so don't do it, the point is that it might be good for you to do it less. At the very least it's a hard challenge. There is no challenge in signing up to not do something you don't do.

None of those sound more appealing than masturbating.

The main thread: http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2218169 it may be mostly guys but at least there are a decent number of people doing it. A support community, shall we say

I love my rabbit too much.
I can just tell that this thread will never be as popular as the guys one.

You must have something against us guys
Can we masturbate with our partners?

Why would you not masturbate? It is a healthy activity and releases sexual tension? This is a rather odd thread?

You need to read the guy thread to understand: D

It's all about abstaining in order to somehow increase motivation, confidence and I guess willpower. Apparently masturbation using porn is harmful as porn creates an addiction due to the systemic release of dopamine in the reward centre of the brain, etc...

It's weird how the men want to stop and the women don't. It's a myth that most women don't masturbate.

Yeah but the men only want to stop because there's a carrot on stick!

I honestly thought this was an incredibly sexist thread title until after reading I realised the double meaning of DIY.
