You seem like a real joy to be around. Ever thought that quite a few students might actually just like going out and partying?

Ye I enjoy that too. Doesn't make me an idiot like the most of these try hards on the show.

To be honest, thisshow reminded me of when I went to Uni at 19. Stupid English chavs with little culture, education, interests ... just bland sheep following each other and being party animals. No personality or morals, just sheep. I hated those types at Uni, it's as if they didn't have a mind of their own. They just act like the others to fit in. I hope to avoid this atmosphere when I go again this september.

will you be doing a different type of degree?

just wondering, I thought if you would be older, than you will probably avoid the whole party scene.

I won't avoid it. I'll be in there but I'm not going to hang around childish boys and girls like the sheep on this show.

I really, really hope that uni will not be like that for me. Being a non-drinker and a guy who just hates parties and views them as a complete waste of time I don't know how well I will do during the first week or two...

I just finished A2 and am going to do a gap year (decided what I wanted to do too late). However, for my uni choices I have already picked Sheffield, Kent, Kings, Queen Mary and Royal Holloway.

Ahh, as far as I know Royal Holloway is really nice as I have visited once before. Good luck in your gap year and results

I recently heard and watched the first episode of "The Secret Life of Students" and for those who haven't, it is mainly about finding out about what really goes on in a students life and what they get up to and you can catch it up on 4oD.
I liked, as it was extremely eye-opening on some issues regarding relationships and friendships, but other than that, I felt like it avoided some of the academic side of University, which is why those students are there in the first place.
Anyway, share your thoughts about this show

I'm starting uni in September so I really wanted to watch it. Whilst some bits seemed exaggerated, it was really I interesting at the same time. Did you watch last night's episode?

Ohh same  which uni you going to? and yeah, the whole chlamydia thing probably was acted out but I did find the settling in part interesting. Episode 2 had some really deluded students. Jack was ok but Helen and Gemma annoyed me way too much.

Oxford brookes  you? I found Helen alright but Gemma was really annoying. The obsession with her boyfriend to the point that she couldn't be independent or get on with her life was ridiculous. I know he had heart problems but to drop out because of him when they may not even be together in the future seem crazy

I thought the show was somewhat insightful as you will come across people like this. When I finally go to university in a few years (slight mature student) I'll be partying and getting drunk quite heavily, but I will also be doing my studying and such. However unlike what a lot of people seem (either too much for drinking or too against it, where's the middle ground people?) I won't judge anybody based on what they want to spend their time on. I am friends with heavy drinkers and a few of my friends don't drink at all. So just because you do or don't do something that you deem inappropriate, it doesn't mean that you should segregate that person based on what they do. So basically, I will be friends with any tidy people whether they drink or not. However that Lauren, I couldn't. She was full on attention seeking and made the whole not drinking a big deal when it didn't need to be. Also, it will depend on the university and the courses taken as some universities with less respected academics tend to have less hours and technical courses tend to have more than non technical courses.

I applied there! but went to Liverpool instead because its closer to home  what u studying? and yes, I felt like throwing the remote at the tv when she even began to think about dropping out. her mum finally made her come to her sense though.
I don't drink so I was really worried about starting university but for some odd reason I watched this show and it got me so excited!

I mean everyone seems to talk to each other and get along! Sure there was that one annoying girl who didn't drink and didn't really try socialise and went crazy when the hitler thing came up. At first I got scared that I was going to be like her but then I realised I'm waaaaay more sociable and she made friends in the end so I should be fineeeee!

Woohoo *crazy hype*!!

1) University of Leicester is a crap university & too much generous to give above 70% marks to its every student.

2) 5k, 10k text plans are for Leicester's students.

3) All students in this show are only interested in sex.

4) Every participant is too much insecure.

5) They are all alcoholic.

6) I don't understand when they study because every time they are either texting each other or busy on social media.

Exactly, not drinking won't mean you wont make friends, however if you do a Lauren and isolate yourself from everybody else because of that, then its a pretty effective way to end up not having friends.
