Any other students here who took a GAP YEAR finding it hard to adjust to uni?

I'm finding it hard to get back into learning. The early morining lectures and the workload (psychology) is mentally draining. Who else feels this way?

I'll probs adjust after a few more weeks hopefully..

I'm in the exact same position as you...same course as well!
im having trouble doing my work early instead of just spending my time socialising or on my laptop.
I found it really hard for the first few weeks, but then you eventually begin to settle into some kind of routine. Don't worry too much, as first year is usually more laid-back anyway.

I think it's quite common to find it difficult.

Routine is the most important thing. I'm in third year and I assign myself a day for each subject and don't allow myself to work past 6pm. We're human beings too. Just remember to plan and do a checklist so that you feel like you've achieved something each day - the reward system soon kicks in.

Ahhh really?? What uni? I havent met any gap year students yet :frown:
Ahh same (except for me its my iphone  ).
I feel so far behind because Idon't take much notes during the lecture and havent gone over them. I used to come home and write my notes in a book during Alevels but its been 3 weeks now and i havent revised once outside lectures :frown:

I do the same and i'm in final year. Working 9-6 five days a week is plenty time and healthier than revising right before bed.

I think she meant extra reading. How do you get time to go uni if you revise the entire day?

Ah I see so its on your off-days. I have full days and I'm in my final year too. So I have to stay up till 10pm at the very least. :frown:

Mornings are a killer, but besides that, I've been good.

one day a week??

I have 5 modules and 5 days of the week.. 1 day for each module and 10am-6pm working is more than enough... Need some kind of a social life to you know.. not go completely insane. In fact I often leave at 5 so that I can go to the gym for 5.30..
Not really.

I worked a gap year working 3 jobs and did easily 80+ hour weeks. So uni was just an onset of that.

I'm at Brunel University...you? Yeah for one of my lectures I couldn't understand what he was talking about and he has a german accent which made it worse so I started recording his lectures on my phone and typed out everything I could hear him say.
This method has really helped though because the textbook for this module is really complicated as well.
