Do people do this? I don't see what the big fuss/excitement is over that though - it doesn't make you any different from a homosexual or heterosexual (except with where your interests lie) and tbh i don't think people should lie about something like that just to get attention - why do it for attention?

Maybe it's a way of being accepted? Like maybe they lack receiving attention and think people see being a homosexual or heterosexual as boring? Wanting to be a bit more spontaneous?

Depends on whose perspective this is. You can't really say everyone thinks female bis are hot and male bis are weird, because that's simply not true.

(Mostly) I don't think people do it for attention, as there are better ways of doing so. There aren't exactly any social advantages to being bi, and if anything, it could backfire (straight people think you're gay/lesbian, and gay people think you're gay but in denial, so don't really want anything to do with you).

I always find it strange how when some female pop stars are trying to make a name for themselves they claim to be bisexual but then once they have an established career they vehemently deny it.

I think this is starting to change. There has been a large rise in the amount of women interested in gay smut about men they find attractive/want to be with so it isn't really as clearly defined anymore.
