Just don't see the point in it. I do not have any alcoholic friends. The benefits of alcohol are an illusion caused by a reduction in neuronal connections in the brain.

the little one has done it!!!!

I prefer fruit juice.

I have quite a nice time actually, sipping my fruit juice.

Nope, I'll take my fruit juice.

I'll pass. I did try some alcohol before but I still don't understand what the whole buzz is about. Fruit juice just tastes so much better.

Cool, fresh fruit juice is even better for you.

Fruit juice should really not cost so much.

pubs should sell smoothies already...

I'm a control freak, I'm terrified of anything mind-altering.

Why?

Aren't you bored of seeing all your friends having a good time on the strip? You say you can have fun without alcohol but when everyone around you is drunk is it not just weird and awkward?

Don't you grow tiresome of the people achieving hedonism by simply engorging in the delicious elixir that is alcohol.

Have you ever let yourself loose and tried it? Being drunk can be really fun if moderated and you can still have a great healthy lifestyle.

Recent studies have actually pointed at alcohol being good for your health if consumed in moderation: http://www.psmag.com/health-and-behavior/truth-wont-admit-drinking-healthy-87891

So...... what are you waiting for?

:colone:

Troll or not. I don't care about fun or letting myself loose. Neither do I care about friends. I only care about career success and sacrificing my life to achieve something extremely great that has a global influence.

I don't drink alcohol because I don't like the taste. I prefer soft drinks. I've been drunk in the past and always regretted it the next day. Alcohol makes people act like idiots and bad situations (like fights and rape) can occur because people are intoxicated. I always find it a little sad when people make out that you need loads of alcohol to be social and have a good time. Having to rely on what's effectively a drug in order to make the conversation and laughs flow is pretty pathetic. Being drunk is a sign of wanting to suspend the reality around you, an escape from a life you're obviously not fully content with. I imagine a lot of the people on here who are saying how awesome being drunk is are still quite young, you'll grow out of it. Most of the people I know who were into that kind of thing when they were younger aren't anymore and those who still do it are looked down on as immature. There's nothing wrong with a drink or two but being drunk is something else.

Not many people like the taste of alcohol it's an acquired taste really.

How drunk? A lot of people on here think being drunk means getting absolutely trollied but it doesn't.

Didn't say anything about needing alcohol to make conversation flow.

A lot of kids parents get drunk so you're wrong on that point

well i know its easy to hide away in a locked up little world where everyone else's opinions mean zilch, but come on, how can you actually enjoy life if you don't have any friends at all? i know there is the excuse of autism/asperges but two of my friends have autism and they still go out to parties and have a genuinely good time, while also getting top grades

But that's your friends. We're not all like that. Not all of us are that interested in socialising. I'm generally not. I have a few groups of friends that I see a maximum of a few times a month.

Oh, and it's not an excuse.

How old are you?

Let me tell you this now, if you really have this opinion your life will SUCK.

1. the taste goes away if you drink for long enough, plus IMO most ciders are pretty nice

2. honestly, unless you're 4 feet high, a few beers wont make you act silly, its not alcohol alone which causes people to do stupid things. ive done stupid things (although not stupid just out of character) because i physically chose to, the drunkenness just makes it a lot easier to do

3. I AM SERIOUSLY SICK of these people who say "gah if you need alcohol to HAVE A GOOD TIME... bla bla"... no one NEEDS alcohol, but alcohol just enhances it, it's like hanging out with your girlfriend at your house or hanging out with her in paris... sure, you dont need to do it but it just makes it better. Alcohol makes it better because people get less stressed about school work and stuff like that, people are friendlier and more willing to talk to people they haven't met, etc... alcohol isnt necessary but it certainly enhances it, maybe next time you shouldn't have water with your dinner because it isn't "NEEDED"... lol

your language really disgusts me to be honest, you look down on young people who drink, yet i genuinely believe that about 90% of people in my school year have gotten drunk before

Lmao, nice pseudo science.

Have you ever drunk/been drunk?

Drinking alcohol doesn't make you an alcoholic

That's the usual excuse from people with Korsakoff's syndrome.

Wow.

Being drunk=/=continued heavy alcohol consumption
I get too bad hangovers. :frown:
I gave up alcohol completely 10 months ago and I'd say my life is better now. I'm not waking up in police cells or emergency rooms or staggering home covered in blood anymore.

I can have a good time when I go out, have a decent chat with my mates and not worry about driving them away with episodes of psychotic rage.

I drink very rarely. It's just such a boring drug.

Lysergide has much more interesting effects.

Oh don't give me that, if you don't socialise at university you won't enjoy it.

Have you not seen the amount of threads saying ''first year of uni and have no friends''

Surely you have friends at the moment?

Nonsense. I'm in my second year of university and don't drink or go to parties. University is fantastic.
It smells like puke, for one. I can't stand the stench of it to the point where I can't even be around people who have drunk because they stink of it too. It's an expensive hobby. I'm perfectly happy drinking soft drinks. There are no health benefits: alcohol increases HDL levels, prevents atherosclerosis and clotting and therefore limits the risk of heart attacks and thrombosis, but most of that can be avoided if you have a healthy balanced diet. Yes it can be good for social events, but I find if your social skills are already up to par you won't need it (I say that in the least arrogant way possible). I don't in the least bit feel left out at university because I'm not a follower that needs to abide by a pointless culture to make friends. I think that covers most of it.

If there would be little exciting in your life without alcohol or partying then it is your life that I would worry about being boring, not mine, I have passions and hobbies that could keep me entertained for years without doing anything else.
