i nearly wrote inheritance of property for the marxist question but then i decided not to as i didn't think that was really linked to capitalism as such, more to the husband?
i wrote:
1) the reproduction and maintenance of the labour force needed for capitalism
2) socialising its members into the capitalism values, by teaching them that there will always be someone above them giving them orders, through parental (particularly patriarchal) control
3) unit of consumption; the family is encouraged to "keep up with the joneses" and children are encouraged to use "pester power" and so the family makes a profit for capitalism
and for household definition i wrote:
a group of people who live under one dwelling who share things such as food, bills and rent. they can be related or unrelated.
for cohabitation:
secularisation
declining stigma and changing attitudes
for the policies essay i used social policies and theories/perspectives on social policies e.g. feminists, functionalists, new right.
for the childhood essay i talked about postman and palmer and the disappearance of childhood, the general changes that have occurred since the middle ages and used aries and shorter, and how childhood is actually being extended due to parental control e.g. control over resources, children's bodies etc. as that was also linked to the item.
