Why are liberals much smarter than conservatives

Scientific studies show that liberals are more intelligent than conservatives. This is a scientific fact. What is it that makes us labour voters so much smarter than our slower conservative cousins? I have yet to meet a conservative in real life so was wondering if anyone knew why?

Labour aren't liberal, they're mildly socialist. If they really were so liberal they wouldn't of introduced tuition fees, but then again, that's not socialist either.

If you understand the characteristics of liberal and conservative thinkers it might give some clues as to why studies have shown liberals to be more intelligent. Conservatism is based as the name suggests on keeping things the same and fiercely opposing any proposed change. This goes hand in hand with people who have lower IQs who 'cannot think outside the box' and so may not be able to understand the potential benefits of some changes. Liberal thinkers however are open to change and a part of this is to use their brains to constantly think up and evaluate new ideas which could potentially benefit society. So in short, it is proposed conservative thinkers tend to be less intelligent as their conservatism stems from not being able to use their minds to fully evaluate change and so are immediately against it. Liberals however are able to do this and so are open to change. PS these are the findings of numerous Psychological studies and aren't my own opinions as such. Anyway hope inhale helped shed a bit of light on this for you :smile:

and this is why Labour supporters rely on the minimum wage whilst the economic powerhouse of the city is right-wing?

Not necessarily. I am far from a conservative (in fact I am probably a conservative's worst nightmare), but I've met plenty of dumb liberals and smart conservatives.

Cultural Marxism is worse thing to ever happen to Britain. Change is good, but when society becomes a weird manifestation of a socialist experiment, it's gone way too far.

I'd describe myself as agnostic, with progressive beliefs such as the need for the N.H.S. But I am culturally and economically Conservative. I'm also going to study at one of the best universities in the country.

It's the idea that conservatives have a blinkered sometimes backward view on things and 'themselves centric' view of how society should be run i.e 'oh I've only ever been wealthy so I won't bother stretching the limits of my brain to concern myself with the plight of the less fortunate' .

Erm because they don't value winning at all costs (usually the less fortunate in the case of you lot) like right wingers, like business minded fat cats. And more to the point you talk ****, Labour dominated latter 90's and noughties so shh.

I am almost certain any surveys/studies stating this are more likely to be American than from the UK and it is a lot easier to explain there. In the UK the lines are blurred a lot more.

You don't have to be smart to work in the City :laugh:

In any case, the City is right-wing only for self-interested purposes. I'm sure the people there, tasked with designing a functioning state, would apply their minds and design a liberal or socialist state.

Most labour supporters don't actually rely on the minimum wage, some do but so do some conservatives. Let's not generalise.

It's no surprise to me that the economic powerhouse is right wing, sure who wouldn't jump on the conservative band wagon if they were rich involved in banking etc, the wealthy rich have EVERYTHING to lose and so hardly are going to want change, which could risk losing them their high social position and wealth
Anyway, we are talking about intelligence , not wealth here. They are two separate things in my eyes and imo wealth does not = intelligence so your statement doesn't really help the subject of this thread imo. Don't get me wrong though, obviously there are a bunch of extremely s,art conservatives and a heap of dumb liberals as well.
