California girl looking for social hotspots in London

I'm going to study abroad in London soon and was wondering where the best places to socialize or just have a good evening out with friends are in the London area(:

In all seriousness though main social hotspots are really just around university campuses and stuff. UCL and Kings mainly from what I've experienced. Would have been great if you came like a month earlier tbh.

Didn't know you guys use "lit" over there! Hahaha.. do you know of any places specifically?

We don't lol, I just know what it means because I have some yank friends and because of twitter. Don't advise you to use the word when you get here

Honestly I'm not sure what your into but if your looking for clubbing there's DSTRKT, XOYO, The Mayfair Club and stuff which is pretty good.

Just realised you'll be coming here to study, my bad thought it was just a visit. In which case you'll have no trouble socialising and having a good time, loads of international students here and they're usually the ones I have a blast with Where will you be studying?

I hit up Pacific Beach, San Diego this summer. Met a load of Aussies, Canadians and locals and they didn't mind being called Yanks (the locals). Cali is what life is about. I'm going back for the third time next summer.

Some people don't care, others get offended... West coast natives don't really care, like me. East coast, though, like New York and D.C. more people will find it offensive lol but glad you like Cali, Cali likes you(:

Yeah I didn't really go around addressing people as 'Yanks', but it came up in conversation. I found New Yorkers (those in NYC, not the state) to be quite similar to Londoners, really busy people and are only interested in you when they are trying to sell you something. Although a lot of people were fascinated with my accent. Look up London on Wikitravel for cool places to go. It's pretty much essential to have a rough plan of what to do, purely because of how expensive nights out can be. When I went to 'Fabric' - one of the most famous clubs a few years ago for my 18th, I spent £15 on entry, then it was about £20 for about 3/4 shots, or something like that. That's like $50 already lol.

I've been to NYC many times and to London only once, but I feel like Londoners are a lot more polite than New Yorkers haha.. I was impressed when some people in London were able to tell that I was from California from the way I spoke! I'm not much of a club-goer, but I've been told to check out Fabric

Fabric is pretty mental, and can be an intense experience if you don't enjoy clubs. Parts of North London has some nice bars or whatnot, and there's this really small cute cinema with a bar that seats like 20 people in huge, plush chairs.

Whatever you want to do, London has it, as long as you do your research. It annoys me when people, even Londoners themselves think it as just over rated. I think it's under rated.

Yeah people have been telling me it's depressing and the whole country is sh*t but I personally fell in love with London from what little I've seen of it. Thanks for the suggestions(:
