Can any Notts students answer my accommodation questions?!

Hey,

I've got an offer from Notts to study law, definitely going to firm it, I'm just waiting for my insurance offer.

I've got a few questions about the accommodation that I was hoping someone could answer.

1) I was looking at on campus catered accommodation and really liked HughStuart Hall, however I found out that you can't pick a certain hall on campus. Are most the halls reasonably nice?

2) Is it harder to socialise and make friends not having a kitchen and living room with a few other rooms?

3) Where do pre's happen if there's no kitchen/living room area?

4) How far away is Broadgate park and how nice is it?

6) Broadgate or Uni park campus accommodation?!

I apologise for having so many questions but hopefully one of you lovely people will be able to answer them for me.

nah its pretty bad my head gets wet at night and my roommate is annoying as **** but its what they gave me so ill be grateful

1. Seen a few halls and they're all ok, none are in shambles.

2) Not really, tbh it's really down to the indvidual.

3) in the JCR/Lounge, mate's room etc

4) Broadgate to the law school is 5-8 mins, it's one of the nearest schools.

5) Catered or self catered? You decide. Both BGP and UP halls are fine, imo.

BGP is at the bottom left, so depends whereabouts are your classes at. It's 30seconds from the entrance of BGP to the west entrance. Not too sure sorry I don't live on BGP but there are a lot of people staying there.

1) yeah most halls are nice. The hall I was in looked ugly from the outside but the inside was nice.

2) There are a LOT of people in halls. You get to know a lot more people than if you lived in flat style accommodation and the dining hall is usually very sociable.

3) In people's rooms or the corridor. Some halls have bars so you can go there, as well as the common room

4) Broadgate park is right next to the campus. The walk from BGP to the Law building is probably a lot shorter than the walk that many people living in halls have to take to get to their lectures every day.

6) The food in catered halls isn't great, but it's usually edible. If you're not fussy about food, catered halls is better. But if you are, go for Broadgate park

I was in Willoughby last year.

There were two kitchens in the floor. one which was basically a cupboard with a microwave, sink, bin and kettle. The other one had the same things in it but was slightly bigger. You don't really need to cook as it's catered so the facilities are enough for snacks/tea/noodles/ready meals.

Pyjamas are normal at breakfast/brunch times but not really at lunch/dinner.

Notts is great, you just have to find likeminded people you get on with. I also recommend joining societies/sports clubs!

Sadly, I did some research though and only 3 of the halls look genuinely crap, about 4 are quite nice and the rest are aight.

I got given en-suite plus too! I'm not entirely sure about the hall either, I didn't get to see it on the original open day in September or my applicant open day, although I've heard that it's the people that make halls good and since it's randomly allocated I wouldn't worry too much :smile:
