EU CHAOS: Merkel is ready to CAVE IN and GRANT Turkey visa-free travel

Leaked documents from Britain’s ambassador to Germany, Sir Sebastian Wood, claim the German Chancellor is ready to make a “compromise” on Turkey’s terrorism law.

Turkish president Recep Erdogan has been at loggerheads with the EU after he refused to change laws used to prosecute academics and journalists, one of the conditions to the deal.

A British ambassador's telegram reportedly said Turkey would not have to meet all its demands
The controversial deal sees Turkish authorities take on migrants in exchange for visa-free travel in Europe to its citizens.

Leaders of the 28-member bloc have vowed to sever any agreement with Ankara if conditions are not met.

But the leaked diplomatic telegram from Sir Sebastian reportedly claims Merkel’s officials are ready to compromise on the terrorism law reform condition.

There are straws in the wind to suggest that in extremis the Germans would compromise further to preserve the EU-Turkey deal

Sir Sebastian wrote: “Despite the tough public line, there are straws in the wind to suggest that in extremis the Germans would compromise further to preserve the EU-Turkey deal.

“Merkel has begun to paint the deal in humanitarian terms to pre-empt human rights opposition.

Politics is the art of compromise. Do we want millions of refugees travelling across Europe?

They already are Europe's problem and will remain so unless we do something. Merkel is trying to do something. If Turkey don't get on board with this then the migrant crisis is going to get far worse.

Turks aren't any better than the "refugees".

They won't be Europe's problem if they can't land on our shores. Stopping them from crossing the Med is the something we should do. Then Turkey can close their borders if they don't want the migrants.

So they'll be people from an awful culture with awful ideals ... and pieces of paper. Who cares? Better no devil.

Patrolling the entire Mediterranean sea is totally infeasible and even if it was, it wouldn't stop refugees from coming. The idea is pure fantasy.

A bigger fantasy is expecting Europe to be able to handle all of those people, and expecting them to integrate. Patrolling the Med would certainly lessen the migrants crossing, especially if they ensure as few cross successfully as possible.

If that was an option, sure. But simply put, it isn't. The migrant crisis is not going to go away.

You do realise just how big the Med Sea is, right? You could lose a mountain range in there. Preventing migrants/refugees from crossing is just not practical, it would cost trillions.

Only when they land on the shores (or at least, enter territorial waters) of the country they're immigrating to. If they're people traffickers, then possibly the vessel could be stopped. But this is all a moot point anyway. The possibility of EU naval forces patrolling the Med to stop migration is simply ludicrous, it won't happen in a million years.
