Hi there, if you email the HMRC recruitment team on the email lawgrad13 has sent you, they can't tell you anything because Manpower are handling everything. I had a response from them the other day directing me to Manpower. We've just got to be patient (I know it's very hard). I've got an appointment with HMRC this week to drop off some documents so I will update anything useful I find out about the1320 campaign timeline, on here, as soon as I can.

I thought that email was the address that manpower are working with on behalf of HMRC? That's who have been sending me all the information so far since hearing that manpower are taking over. Just assumed this as it says 'resourcing-support'. Good Luck with your appointment Katy :smile:

How much does this differ from before? How many weeks training do people usually get?

12 weeks is a semester at uni...enough time to learn the basics you need to at the start. You'll learn more by doing it yourself anyway so it's not such a bad thing.

Zyro, you've made a couple of comments on training. It sounds like you struggled with it. Did you find it hard, even with someone holding your hand throughout? I don't think you should attempt to worry people on here about changes to the training as others might not find it to be an issue. I know it's not for me and I have never done this type of work before. I'll take it as it comes.

Hi everyone.

I'm currently awaiting results from my application for the 042R recruitment drive - I passed the tests and they initially said I'd hear within two weeks, then they said I'd hear by the 21st October, then yesterday they said we'd hear within 24 hours. As of 10am (three minutes from now) they have failed to deliver on yet another timetable.

Reading through this thread from people who are further down in the process the whole thing seems a complete and utter mess. I'm not sure whether ManPower or HMRC are to blame but I find myself resenting my potential future employer before I'm even at the interview stage.

Has anyone had a smooth recruitment experience and actually working and enjoying the job? Or is everyone just tearing their hair out with delays, false promises and uncertainty?

Lawgrad's email is for Manpower - but just don't expect a quick response.

Generally the domain will give it away ... The civil service contact emails will end with '.gsi.gov.uk'

whereas Manpower have 'HMRC-support.co.uk' (as they are not government they can't use .gov)

I agree, each person learns differently and with so many people in the same boat and able to support one another, I really don't think there is any need to put the cat among the pigeon's by implying the training won't be good enough for the new starters

Not at all. I'm one of the few finding it wasy as I've studied and worked in Accountancy before. The fact of the matter is the training IS a joke, and all the managers and mentors know this.

I know I would have preferred to be aware of juat how badly preppared the tax academy is before I sarted.

Training previously was 18 months. Evasion caseworkers from the intake before me are still on 12 months I believe. Specialists from my month forward work on one areaof tax only, such Income / Corporation / PAYE etc. My training is 6 months. Yours is 12 weeks.

Yes, the mentors and staff are amazing in training, and they will hold your hand and fight for you. No idea after though.

This is an issue because of HMRC's piss poor planning. Too many staff retiring. Aging workforce.

Training & Qualifications doesn't phase me. Others may be concerned though. I personally don't think there is anything to worry about.

The email given by law grad is the manpower Hmrc resourcing support team.

I just had a call from HMRC regarding 1320 HO campaign. They asked how much notice I need to give my current manager so that they can plan where to place people and from when.

I am internal now but was external at time of application. I've applied for Manchester.

I've just had the exact same call. Literally just asked how many weeks notice, no news on how long it would take before we got formal offers. I applied for Newcastle

I had the same call from HO regarding 1320 asking if i could start anytime soon despite not heard from them since acceptance of offer in September; I asked if all my checks are completed but they said they have no idea and cant say precisely when start day will be...This is hillarious😁
