Uni and Uni Course help?

Hi Everyone
I've been on my gap year and now its time to start thinking about the whole uni thing. I am thinking about OU as I dont really want to go to uni as I know its not personally for me but want to have a degree. What are your experiences of OU?

My experiences have all been positive. I think the whole structure, books etc are so easy and straightforward. This doesn't mean the actual content is easy. There would be no point if it was easy anyway. I think the first year helps you get used to the university system so well. I stressed so much before I started about how i was going to do everything (assignments, referencing) but there was nothing to worry about.

apparently the tutorials are very good but i don't have the guts to attend one yet.

I study the open degree so i get to choose what i would like to study. I think definitely go for it.

I would definatley reccomend it. I tried a campus uni but with my mental health issues it proved too much for me to handle and I dropped out shortly into my second year. I then chose to leave that particular degree - since it was pretty specialised and I was unable to study anywhere else - and I am now studying BA(Hons) Philosophy and Psychology at OU.

It's been great for me. Took some adjustment, you have to be incredibly self motivated and working up the nerve to email my tutor for the first time when I was having issues was hard. But the material is so accessable and there is always someone to reach out to.

I felt nervous because I really didn't know what to expect with OU and it's format but it's really flexible. You are sent all your text books, assignment material, and a study guide in advance, shortly before modules begin your moudle website with all the material available (including downloadable versions of textbooks if you want them on your laptop/iPad etc.) and online forums for each module. There are tutorials which are totally optional, either face-to-face or online. Some modules have a residential school in the summer though none of mine do for my whole degree so I don't know what those entail.
