I don't know what to do!

Hi guys,
So I went to my friends birthday party and there was this boy there and we talked all night and we got photos together.
Ever since that night we have been so close lately and I'm so proud, we say we love each other all the time and I feel like we should be together, but about a week ago I asked him and he said no because he doesnt want it to get in the way of how close we are as friends. But I don't want to be just friends!we have so many similarities it's unbelievable! Normally it's me to say I love him first but last night it was him! And I feel like it's the right time to ask him again but a part of me is telling me not to. What should I do? X
