Do most halls have a cross-section of students on different courses in them, or do some gravitate to certain halls? Do most students move out into private accom in their second year? Ta!

What's okeford house like? I have an offer for a masters at Bournemouth and heard okeford is just for postgrads. Do you think it's better to live with undergrads too, or postgrads? Thanks!

Hi Miljee!

In my opinion the halls are a cross section of students all on different courses.

Following your first year spent in halls, students then rent out houses in towns close to Bournemouth such as Winton or Charminster (Or decide to stay in Bournemouth) although this usually depends on which campus your course teaches on e.g. for most, courses are taught at Talbot campus, therefore Winton is your best bet for a house as this is the closest to said campus.

I hope this helps - feel free to send any more questions our way

Hey!

Okeford house is right next to Winton High street. Therefore, depending on the campus you'll be studying at, you're either a short walk away from Talbot campus, or in range of regular buses to Landsdowne. Either way, your bus pass is included in the rent.

At Okeford there are 2 different types of rooms - studios and shared accommodation. Shared accommodation is quite like your standard first year in halls: a single bed, shared kitchen and an en suite in your room. Studios differ from this slightly by having cooking appliances within your own room. With both set5s of accommodation, you have free access to bike storage and bills & Wi-Fi are included.

With regards to your query around being better off living with postgrads or undergrads, I'd say its all really down to personal preference. I'd imagine living with undergaduates would be very lively. From a social perspective this could be advantageous however it all comes down to personal preference.

Personally, I'd probably be better off in the environment where others are working hard towards a PG degree.

I hope this helps answer your questions but obviously if you have any more then send them our way!

Hi I am a undergrad coming in September but I have no idea which accommodation to select, I want to have an accommodation where everyone is involved and lively so that I can build friendships with others and be able to enjoy my time. And which accomodation will be best suited for sports therapy?
Hey I am a undergrad going to do Physiotherapy at Bournemouth this September ! I'm really loving Dorchester House but is it too far out from the other accommodation?

Hiya!
Yes all halls of residence will have a mixture of students from different courses and people only gravitate to certain halls just out of personal preference really. Have you been to an open day yet? You can check out some of the available halls available on the day. Yes, most students do move to private accommodation in second year although you can still gain support from BU Lettings.
Thanks!

Hey!
Okeford house is designed for post grads and is located just off of Winton high street so you are within walking distance of the uni. To be honest, it's completely up to you where you would like to live, if you click on this link
https://www1.bournemouth.ac.uk/why-bu/accommodation/accommodation-september-starters it will show you the list of accommodation that is available and whether or not it is suitable for undergrads, post grads or both, but most of the time, undergrads and postgrads won't be mixed in the same flat.
Thanks!

Hey!
It depends on whether you will start uni in January or September.
If you start in January, you will have to complete your booking for accommodation by 9am on 17 December
If you start in September, you will have to complete your booking for accommodation by 8am on 16 August
Thanks!

Hey!
Great to hear that you're coming to BU. I would say that any of the halls are lively but you could perhaps narrow down your search by thinking about how much you want to spend as the halls all have different prices. At BU we also have an organisation called Res Life which is run by a group of uni students and they visit all of BU accommodation and run activities so that you can mix with other people and build friendships. Also all of our accommodation has a mixture of students so I wouldn't say that there would be one accommodation that would be most suited to your course
Hope this helps!

Hey!
No I wouldn't say that Dorchester House is too far away from the other halls - they're within walking distance of each other. Also what's great about Dorchester is that it's right next to Asda and the train station.

Hey!
I would say that the internet connection in all halls has to be good as BU know that students will need it for work and socialising etc. However, if you would like some more info you could email [email protected] and they should be able to help!

Hey there!
I don't think you will be able to book your accommodation any earlier, but feel free to check with the accommodation team by giving them an email. Their email address is [email protected]
Dorchester halls usually have double beds and the building is in a really convenient location as it is right next to Asda and the train station and within walking distance of all the shops and clubs. If you come along to an open day, you may have a chance of looking around the accommodation. Here is a link to book a place: https://www1.bournemouth.ac.uk/open-days

What are the main differences between Cranborne, Purbeck and Dorchester? Umming and aahing between these as first choices but unsure what really sets them apart!

Hi, So I have a question regarding medical allocation for accommodation. On part one of the accommodation process I stated that I had a medical issue that needed certain requirements. Recently I received an email to say that my accommodation has been allocated for me and they are in the process for booking me in. However, I was under the assumption that I could choose what accommodation I wanted like everybody else . I just feel like this goes against my rights as everybody else gets a choice and the accommodation I was hoping to stay in can cater for my needs as all I need is a ground floor and en-suite, which many of the accommodations have. I was wondering if you knew if the disabled students can also have a choice like

Hi there Will
Im a Student Ambassador at Bournemouth University

firstly when picking accommodation I went to the Bournemouth uni website to have a look and what I would also say helped me a lot was YOUTUBE It gave me a real insight as other ambassadors did videos on their own accommodation and weighed up the pros and cons of each and in doing that I chose Dorchester house which is amazing as well as all the others
