At no point did he invite the IRA to Parliament... That's just a fact. Sinn Fein are not the IRA. In the same way that supporters of the Union were not all loyalist paramilitaries.

Bit of a fine distinction though, especially given that despite his denials, lots of credible people have stated that both Adams and McGuinness served in the IRA council as well as in Sinn Fein and that the division was basically a fiction. Corbyn was well aware of this, he just chose to ignore it.

I'm not so sure, Sin Fein were and are a political party who were in talks with the British government.

In October 1984, two weeks after an IRA bomb killed five at the Tory Party conference in Brighton, Corbyn invited convicted IRA volunteers Linda Quigley and Gerry MacLochlainn to the House of Commons. It caused uproar at the time.

It would be just dreadful if Extinction Rebellion by an amazing coincidence decided to block all the routes to be used by the motorcade. Even worse would be if someone flew drones around the airspace to be filled with thundering gas-gizzling US presidential chopper fleets. Let's just really hope that neither of those awful things come to pass and cause Trump to be left stuck at Heathrow.

They can try putting a drone up at Heathrow, won’t make any difference given that’s not the airport used for these things.

Donald Trump has been caught in another controversy after footage emerged of him attending a Sinn Féin fundraising dinner in New York in November 1995.

The Republican frontrunner can be seen shaking hands with Gerry Adams in the Essex House hotel in Manhattan, months before the Provisional IRA broke its ceasefire by bombing London's Canary Wharf.

Like him, dislike him or just watch, Trump has been quite useful at blowing the cover of respectability by large parts of the media and that can only be a good thing. The positioning against him is unprecedented, several institutions caught peddling a distortion of reality like never seen before. Fake news destroy the credibility of any purveyor and many of them have been at it in no uncertain terms.

Everybody believes Trump decreed a 'Muslim ban', don't they? We have heard and read that a million times in every reputable news source, school children know all about it. We've seen hundreds of people expressing their revulsion in news outlets with panels of experts on, yet another demonstration of Trump's evilness. We all know that Trump banned Muslims from the US, are we all agreed on that? Well, he never.

Whatever induces such mass hallucinations is powerful stuff and the 'educated' classes seem more tickled by it than the 'working' ones, maybe because they are the source themselves. Trump never decreed a ban on Muslims and all this proves Goebbels right in his assessment of how far a lie can travel if repeated long enough.

There have been a couple of isolated incidents of discovery of faking by the main media. This is against a backdrop of huge, almost industrialised, blatant deception and falsehood from Trump himself and his administration. Trump has utterly devalued the US presidency and made it much harder for any future US president to gain credibility or be taken seriously. He has also seriously diminished the international reputation and standing of the United States, which had risen somewhat under Obama and he has almost single-handedly created a chaotic international scene. He has aided the development of the Far Right in many countries and has undermined the rule of law and the value placed on human life, not least by deliberately seeking to encourage mass racism in his own country.

He is a disgusting disgrace, he is no politician and he is a crook.
