Could Britain get a US trade deal if Trump wins?

It’s becoming increasingly likely that Trump will win the US general election. Britain for many years has been desperate for a trade deal since leaving Europe. Donald Trump promised us a deal in his last term in office. If he wins, what are the chances that we will get this trade deal and a much closer relationship to our transatlantic partner? Ideally it would be great if the deal could allow easier travel and work opportunities for Brits and Americans between the two countries. But for now a trade deal is crucial and joining NAFTA would be a great start.
Nope, Starmer (probably the next PM) and Trump will never get along. Besides, Starmer will obtain a closer relationship with the EU.

getting along doesn't mean much as its for the country . he will most likely have to especially since he won't rejoin the e.
Probably.
Whether it would be a trade deal that is favourable to Britain's national interest or of much benefit to the UKs resident citizens is another question entirely.
Trump only makes the deals that he believes are in his own or his closest family members best interests.

Sure it could, trade deals are easy for the weaker party with nothing to offer except cheese and dubiously made cars. The bigger they are the harder they kick your ass in negotiations and Britain needs it far more than America. Britain will have to make concessions and accept it at the end of the day. The lack of a deal being a less then steele outcome

When you say we want a deal with the US, what exactly does that mean? This is the problem with this whole debate, you have basically boiled down probably one of the most extremely complicated concepts in world trade down a two or three words.

Do we want a deal? Of course.
And we can then sell all our stuff to the US and become rich? Sounds great. Sign me up.
But of course that would also mean the US would ask to allow US companies to sell into the UK? Sure. What could possibly go wrong?

US drug companies imposing high prices on the NHS therefore increasing healthcare costs in this country

US selling inferior goods into the UK that don't conform to our own high standards of production

US selling inferior chemically treated foodstuffs at super cheap prices - no thank you

US extending its reach of the law into our country as it already does regarding electronic communications and extradition

If you think the EU is regressive, you ain't seen nothing yet. A US trade deal would be massively bad news for UK consumers in terms of the kind of products we would have forced on us. At least the EU was all about improving and strengthening standards. Have you seen how many ingredients there are in US McDonalds French Fries for example?

You can guarantee that any deal brokered by Trump would only be for the benefit of the US and more specifically Trump supporters and would not give the UK anything in return.
