Affordable dual occupancy student accommodation in Birmingham?

Me and my partner (both students) will be attending Aston university as international postgraduate students. We have been looking for en-suite student accommodations around Aston and Selly Oak but our budget is a maximum of £150/week preferably less, with bills included. We'd prefer to pay in installments but we don't have a UK based guarantor. Most places I've asked seem to only offer studios for dual occupancy and those are quite expensive. We don't mind commuting a bit but just want a safe, affordable place to live. Any ideas?

Hi there,

Finding accommodation as an international student can be a bit annoying, I've been there and I totally get it. Here are a few websites that'll be useful for searching for accommodation and filtering it with your budget and other requirements:

https://www.accommodationforstudents.com/birmingham
https://www.studentpad.co.uk/institution/aston-university
https://www.astonstudenthomes.org/Accommodation (this one will be particularly useful as an Aston student)

The student union also manages a super affordable residence called The green that might fit in well with your budget. You can check them out here:

I hope this has helped

Hi Ethel,
I've talked to the student union and unfortunately the green seems to be fully booked for their dual occupancy rooms. Thank you for the links, although most of the places I've found seem to require a UK based guarantor or the full payment upfront. Would you have any recommendations for places that accept an international guarantor instead? Or if you have any alternative advice, that'd be great as well.
Thank you!

Hi Ethel,

I fully understand your stuggle with finding an comfortable place for double occupancy and that accepts international guarantors. Have you taken a look yet at Nido Globe Works? Our residence is located a small walk from Aston University and offers ensuite & studio rooms, also for double occupancy, from £140/week. More information regarding the residence can be found here https://www.nidostudent.com/locations/birmingham/globe-works/. You can pay in installments and international guarantors are accepted. Any further question, please email our residence team on [email protected] and they'll be able to help you .

Many thanks,
Puck
