They gave me my offer over the phone in January (well it was my sister who rang with appropriately trembling voice).
OMG seriously?! I feel so hard done by now... I rang and the guy was just like, 'eh yeah we're literally printing the letters now. but no I can't tell you, just wait'
thats totally given me hope now that if I ring before Thursday they might tell me...

Better wait - you don't want to antagonise them if they are wavering!!

    Fingers crossed:crossedf:

    OH POOP.

I seriously need to change my postal address and I can't because of course, Track is not updating records -___-
    Any suggestions?
(postal is so slow in the country I live in. It will take me about 3 weeks to receive my post from the UK - I CAN'T WAIT 3 WEEKS TO FIND OUT WHO MY COLLEGE PARENTS ARE x___x)

Should I just email the college and ask them to change my postal address on CamSIS/the cambridge system?
    Ring UCAS and your college

My parents have been wonderful today, so supportive... Here's a few examples:
"well I'm sure you'll get in Somewhere"
"i'm not asking about physics because you won't get an A* in it"
"do we need to come on thursday? you could go down early and then we'll come down later to sort out problems"

Not exactly what I wanted to hear. :/

Maybe they're trying not to get your hopes up? </devil's advocate>

I'd try not to worry about your results too much though; it's not like you can change them! Besides, at least an offer like that shows Cambridge has faith in you! :p:

I'd rather that to the incessant 'of course you've got in' when I'm so sure I haven't. It gets to the point when I'd almost like to be rejected just for the I told you so moment.

Thanks they flip between that and excessive positivity so I guess they're just trying to stop me worrying.

      Alternatively you could:

      1) Ask the Fresher's Reps to tell you their names. Parents usually fb stalk their kids (if they have fb) and are worried when they don't get in touch (none of my kids got in touch with us. We thought we'd lost them before we'd even met them! One of my sisters added me on fb though)

      2) I'm not sure if international freshers (at Christ's) get their packs at the same time as UK students. I know in my year they didn't but this may have changed since. So it may be that you won't have been sent anything and it'll be in your Pidge instead.

Considering the excerpts of your welcome letter that you posted, I'm not really surprised they didn't get in touch :p:

Ha ha, only one of them had facebook anyway Though my husband did find a Canadian porn model with the same name as our daughter. I had to warn him off dating our daughter if it was the same person. Luckily (or unluckily for him), it wasn't.

        sigh
I am an international applicant from hong kong
I have confidence in getting S,1 or even S,S in my STEP, which will be released a few days later
However, I probably lose my offer as I really don't think I can get 7 or above in all components of my IELTS
Don't worry about it, seriously. If you have aced step and get 7 overall at IELTS, despite what they say, they will probably let you in anyway.
(From personal experience: I'm a mathmo, got S/1 in II/III, and had the same IELTS requirements, but got <7 in the speaking part (although 8 overall). They let me in anyway.)

        Good day to everyone!

I am getting a little scared about my final acceptance at Cambridge. My last documents (Bachelor degree) reached the BGS on the 1st of August - at least the german post office told me so - but I still haven´t heard anything of them.
I just wondered if this is a normal waiting time or if I should be alarmed that anything went wrong?

I already thought about calling the BGS, checking if my documents ever reached them, but I am not sure if they could give me an information about that...

Thanks for any answers or tips in advance.

Reminder to international students about Visas:

        1. Make sure you start getting documents ready to apply for your visa soon, if you havent done so already.
        2. Ensure that you have original copies of all neccessary documents (E.g. GCSE certificates, Bank Statements, Letter from your parent stating that they will support you if neccessary etc.)
        3. Make sure that you can show evidence of money that covers your whole first year Gees + College Fees + 5400 pounds a year in subsistence (though this is an underestimate). You must make sure that this is in the bank NOW because it must have been in the bank for at least 28 consecutive days before you apply for your visa.

I've just found this lovely TSR guide on visa help if anyone needs it

Note: The guide was last updated in May 2011. The Uk CISA has published quite a few significant changes in July 2011, so be sure to check whether any of these changes apply to you.
Also checkout Hermione17's post below for any more information on changes too

You are so nice for posting this

I just have a correction, if you don't mind. The money we need is university composition fee + college fee + 5,400 GBP. However, if you have recently studied a course lasting at least 6 months, ending no more than 4 months before our current visa application in the UK under another Tier 4 visa (student visa) it will be only 1,200 GBP instead of 5,400 (this is the case for those taking A-levels/IB in the UK). Here is the source

Because the last time the TSR guide was updated is May 2011, it's likely some information is not up to date (Eg. I remember the Appendix 8 Self assessment form for CASs assigned on or after 21st April 2011 was updated in July 2011). I am sure the guide is helpful, but don't rely on it completely.

        Why thank you
You are entirely correct - what I meant to put was your "entire first year fees + Subsitstance" instead I wrote "First year living expensve + Subsitence"

        Good day!

Whenever I send any documents to my college (Trinity), I always receive an acknowledgement by post. This might be different for different colleges. After I left the UK, whenever I send any documents by post, I enclose a letter asking them to send me the acknowledgement by email, and so they did . However, I never received the acknowledgement by post, and in the email, they did say that they will still send it. I guess it must have been lost, because it's now more than a month since I received the email!

Don't worry, just call/email the BGS and ask!
