Well for me, it goes:

1. Add sugar
2. Add milk
3. Add water and stir
4. Add tea bag and let it brew

Are you for real?
Drink coffee.

Come at me.

I can never put the right amount of milk in, so I do milk first so I can see how much I've added.
Turn the kettle on
Get a mug out of the cupboard
Put a tea bag in the mug
Pour the hot water into the mug
Put the milk in the mug
Leave the tea bag in to brew for about 7 minutes
Et voilà

Brew tea in pot. Then add sugar and milk when tea is poured in cup.

I did specifiy in a mug since most students will not have teapots which is obviously the correct way.

Even still, you disagree with the RSC for correct teapot ettiquette.
ffs now I have to go and make a brew :unimpressed:

Ah didn't read the thread title. Sorry!

In that case teabag for about 30 sec in mug then milk and sugar.

It has to be real leaves - go for a specialist tea maker - you would not believe the difference. I was told that tea bags use the sweepings off the floor.

Use a teapot with a strainer in it - freshly drawn water boiled and left to rest for 30 seconds before pouring onto the tea. Leave for 3 minutes and drink
People who put milk in before the tea cannot be trusted.

Same goes for cereal.
Anyone else just keep the teabag in?
Maybe I'm just lazy:redface:

So you put your milk in..after you put your cereal in the bowl? What sort of crazy world do you live in?!?
If using a tea bag then it's bag first, then water, remove bag, add milk and stir. For leaf tea, then it's loose leaves into pot, add water, pour into cup (via tea strainer) before adding milk and stirring. Do not ruin it with sugar.

Only 30 seconds? Not a fan of strong tea? Milk afterwards is the correct way though. :yep:

We've all watched in horrer as we watch someone make us a cup of tea the wrong way before and then listened to their lame excuses afterwards.

We're here now to get the definitive student opinion on the correct way to produce a cup of tea to put this to bed once and for all.

Often the debate comes in the do you add milk before or after removing the teabag?

Then you get the people who insist on adding the teabag after the water to the mug.

I've also heard there are maniacs that want the milk in first to stop it denaturing as it gets added to the hot tea.

Their lame excuses

Ordinarily

Tea bag in first
Boiling water
Take teabag out, after "rinsing" it
Add milk
Stir

Sometimes, because Im lacking in my tea making ways due to tiredness

Tea bag in first
Add boiling water
Add milk
Take teabag out

-boiled water and tea bag in the tea pot, brew for about 5 minutes
-milk in mug
-tea from teapot into mug
-1 sugar

In the coffeemaker, I add milk in first, but that's coffee and not tea. YOu can make tea in there though.... Just gives it a bit of extra "cream" if you add the milk in first

Terribly British!

Unfortunately, we're now part of the rat race, so like the Americans, we do things quicker

Yes of course :O

How can you judge how much milk you need if the cereal isn't already there?!
