I'm pretty different to most people.

I don't listen to anything upbeat or anything happy. I see no point in pretending like I'm ok.

I listen to really slow and depressing music and just ride it out. I'll admit that it really doesn't help at all.

Last time I broke up with a girl a few days later she decided to pull the "my life isn't worth living anymore, you've destroyed me" line that I'm sure a few of you have heard. I was listening to sad music and crying a bit then my mum walked in and I burst out crying like a baby. Thanks god for Mums and cups of tea eh ? Don't know what I'd of done that night without them. Point being I'm really bad at acting happy when I'm sad.

I can't listen to positive music when I'm sad though. I just end up getting angry and wanting to throw my speakers into the pond.

Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor springs to mind, but it is one of those songs that will make you more depressed rather than cheer you up.
I have a "Break up songs" playlist as well *blushes*

IMO the ultimate break up band are Dashboard Confessional, particularly The Best Deceptions: "So kiss me hard, cos this will be the last time that I let you. You will be back someday. And this awkward kiss that tells of other people's lips will be of service to giving you away". And Screaming Infidelities for when you just need to cry: "I'm reading your note over again and there's not a word that I comprehend except when you signed it 'I will love you always and forever'."

I'd also wholeheartedly second anything by Bullet for My Valentine.

My favourite break up song is probably "Music When the Lights Go Out" by the Libertines: "And alarm bells ring when you say your heart still sings when you're with me. Won't you please forgive me, I no longer hear the music".

Anon, he has friends on here, don't want it going back to him that I'm devastated etc...

So, basically just been pretty harshly dumped, I was told that I just didn't fit into his life anymore! Here I was thinking everything was fine....

So, tuneage?

Anything Rap, Snoop Dogg sweat maybe?

Im assuming your a girl, and I really find this works because I think things along the lines of ' God, men can be such pigs sometimes' when listening to songs like that.

Cheers me up a bit and doesn't make me hate boys, well for too long anyway:biggrin:
