I'm worried about funding. I really need to way up the pros and cons of the masters thing. Hopefully, I will be able to receive some kind of university or research funding, but if that doesn't happen (it probably wont) I will take a year out and save up. I'd rather do that than take out another loan.

Get a part time job while doing your undergraduate degree, you could put it in a seperate bank account if you think you might be tempted to spend it. There you go, 3 years part time work should cover it.

This is probably what ill do then .

It hard to get funding or does that totally depend on what you want to do? And if so which things would you recieve more funding for? And can you get a student loan to help, I know you can get a max of four years sl but will that extend to masters degrees?

Sorry too many questions lol, I used to think it was free :frown: (or at least no more expensive then a undergrad degree.)

Thing is it's so expensive, and when you've just come out of university, are already in debt and wont find the best job straight away I would imagine it would be very hard to do. I wouldn't want to live with my parents again... my home towns the most boring place on earth and I don't think they would have enough money to support me, especailly as in principle a capable 22 year old should be supporting themselves.

Can you not get a maintenance loan from the LEA?

Well, why not put the masters on the back burner for a while and go out to work for a bit? Might be a good idea to try and pay off your existing debt and make a start in the workplace. And there's really no hurry; if you enjoy doing academic stuff you can make it a lifetime pleasure. You can begin your PhD at 40 if you like........like.....erm.......someone I know.....erm......:o:

Depending on the subject, fees aren't too bad. A postgraduate degree in a Humanities subject such as English costs around £3,390 (2009/10) which isn't that bad.

It is hard to get funding, however sometimes grants are available from departments but that would depend on the university. You can get a career development loan which may help.

I have seen some university also enable you to pay per credit. Does that mean per module or price of one credit times 20, 30. It could be an option.
