Hi, I am applying for Primary Education with QTS for entry in September 2011.

My university/Course choices are:

St Marys University College, Twickenham
BA (Hons) Primary Education with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Kingston University, Kingston Upon Thames
Primary Education BA (Hons) with QTS and English Specialism

Chichester University, Bognor Regis Campus
Primary Education and Teaching BA (Hons) with English Specialism

Oxford Brookes University, Oxford
Primary Education BA (Hons) with QTS

Canterbury Christ Church University, Canterbury
Primary Education (BA Hons) Upper Primary QTS

I wondered if anyone had interviews for these courses/specialisms yet and could tell me what the interview process was like/what it involved. I know you get the letter beforehand stating the layout but as of yet I am awaiting mine (Keep obseesively checking emails and Track for updates) and anyway never hurts to get prepared early.

Or if you are applying to these courses/specialisms drop a line to say hi, it'll be nice to meet people I could be on a course with!

Many thanks and good luck with applications!

Hiya  I have an interview at Canterbury on Wednesday 9th; have you had yours yet?

I'm mainly concerned about the maths part. Generally, what sorta stuff have people been asked? And to what level? I havent done maths in soo long ive forgotten everything :/

I've not had my first interview yet but I don't think it's that advanced, for one of mine I just have to learn basic addition, subtraction, division and multiplication and for another percentages, decimals and fractions. Where is it you're applying to?

I have just received an interview from Canterbury Christ Church for the Lower Primary Education degree. Very excited yet nervous! This is my first interview yet, and I'm worried about what to wear as well as the interview itself. I hope all goes well!
I've applied for

Brighton - not heard back
Canterbury - not heard back
St Marys - not heard back
Roehampton - interview
Winchester - interview

Am very nervous about winchester interview as have to take a book to talk about?

Also got to find some relevant issues on education in the news....

Have you had your interview at Winchester yet?

If you haven't don't be too nervous, it's not that bad! You only have to present in front of 7 other applicants (who are just as nervous as you!), a tutor from the university and a member of staff from a link school. Everyone is really nice and it's a lot better if you talk to the other people in your group... we ended up talking about some really random stuff but it was nice as we all relaxed when we were laughing and joking with each other just before the presentations.

I had my Roehampton interview last week and it was really relaxed  You have a talk on the course, then do an English test where you have to correct a piece of writing and then you have your individual interview. For relevant issues, I found encouraging children to read was one that kept coming up while I was researching. Good Luck
Beth 112 I have winchester interview next week... Presenting in front of 7 applicants ahhhh lol i still need to chose a book and then plan the presentation... the letter i got about it makes it sound like a long day, tests, interviews, presentations etc

Abbey  oh that sounds more like my sort of interview, rather be on my own than presenting in front of others lol, and thanks, i will look into encouraging kids to read

good luck everyone!

It's really not that bad!! You're there for about 4 hours... but that includes the welcome talk and checking through your identification things for CRB.

The writing task is the first task during which you'll be called out for your 5 min personal interview. Then the presentations, i'd say choose a book you feel comfortable explaining and would actually use in a classroom.

I used an usbourne young readers book about Pompeii but other people used all sorts of books. Also be confident.... all the other applicants are just as nervous as you! Just relax.... once you're there and getting on with it it's not that bad. I was so nervous on the journey there but then when you're there you have to calm down and just get on with it and showing the best aspects of yourself.

Good Luck!!!

I've got my winchester interview wednesday, whens yours?
I also am nervous about the book presentation!!!
@Blueapple_Star Sorry for late reply but I had mine on wednesday at winchester!! what number group were you? How do you think it went?
xbubblegumx

I think mine went badly :frown: not expecting an offer, i messed up my 1;1 interview, and i was too nervous in my presentation
group 3 i think, what about you?
how did yours go?
blueapple_star

Aww no :frown: Same! I was soo nervous cuz that was my 1st interview and It's my first choice. Yeah when I did my personal interview I was soo nervous and mine was shorter than everyone elses so i'm abit worried about that! And when I did my presentation I was so nervous my hands were shaking lol. We didn't do a group discussion though cuz we ran out of time!! Do you have any other interviews? I was in group 7 so different group! Do you know how long it is until we will know if we got in?
Everything was shaking when i did mine, lol i think its because i went second out of our 8 people. no we didnt do a group discussion either, which i was pleased about

the course director lady that made the speech was in my group, she said we should here in 2-4 weeks

let me know how you get on!! (offer/rejection)
good luck
aww! How weird! I was picked 2nd too! Yeah same cuz I was dreading that! Oh ok not too long then! hopefully it will be within that time!

Ok I will do! You too! Thankyou! Good luck to you too
