I completely agree with your advise! I got an A, 108 UMS. Lots of essay planning and really get the exam technique down! x
Got an A, far better than I expected truthfully. (101/120) The trick was definitely exam technique as that was mostly what I worked on after AS where it was a bit lacking. Seems like alot of people got the grade they wanted... must be alot of smarties around or generous examiners

I personally wouldn't want to post my C-grade here, when everybody else is bouncing A-grades about to be completely honest! Not that surprising. One thing that I noted is that my entire class, except me and 1 other managed to flop this thematic module, one person was on-course for an A-grade, got an A-grade in her coursework etc. only ended up getting an E-grade, sways of others got D's/C's, some of whom were predicted B's, I was the only one to get an A-grade ... many people obviously didn't have a clue about the exam technique required for this exam.

Does anybody know what the A-grade boundary is at A-level by the way?

I got a B  which was what I expected and needed so im happy. Its a little annoying though because my coursework got marked down to a C from a high B -_-

Well as expected i did really well in the exam, 107/120. However i missed both my firm and insurance by 5 UMS because my coursework has been marked down heavily by OCR.

****! thats ass. to miss out on uni as a result of something as abitrary as coursework rankles me. and 107 is a ****ing ace result , what a joke.

Yep, I also enjoyed studying Russia for the 1st time! The whole Lenin<>Stalin debate engrossed me greatly for some reason and learning about the different outcomes that even similar wars can have for a regime was really interesting also, even though I couldn't demonstrate all the knowledge gained from that interest in the exam :frown: I'm happy with only missing out on 6-marks, however

Hey crocker, well, I got better grades than I was expecting to get  AAC, got into my firm, so, I'll be studying History for 3 more years  My firm was Central Lancashire, the only ''decent'' University for History close by to where I live, I don't want to live away on Campus

Congratulations on the results! UCLan is cool, not too far from Lancaster :P I didn't know you'd applied to do history at uni, great choice! Are you commuting to uni or did you just want to be closer to home for weekends/family/friends ect?

Thanks, I hope that it is cool  Yeh, I always seem to excel in History in-comparison to other subjects and have always enjoyed/ found it the subject that interested me most and I don't really have a specific career path in mind, so, choosing History as a degree was a rather easy choice for me  Well yes, I am commuting but I decided that I wanted to live at home because I don't think that I'd be suited to, nor would I enjoy the whole halls environment/lifestyle. Saving money is also a nice plus but is certainly not the reason that I didn't want to move.

I've always been maths/science minded, my grandad who I spent a lot of time with when I was younger (and still do  ) worked for a huge electricity company for 35 years so taught me maths and physics stuff which put me well ahead in those subjects without trying (lev 5 SATs, lev 8SATs; A*GCSE). However, I found history naturally interesting; some people find things boring which I quite ashamedly love. I suppose that it's given me a different approach to most people as I look at things in a empirical way so it's good for assessing historical events ect. Anyway - to cut the long story short, I chose to read History because it was something that I've liked all my life and something I found not difficult, but challenging.
Sorry for that mini-life story haha, I can see what you mean with the halls, it can be daunting, and it was the first time I've lived on my own (still go home every 3/4weeks :P) I found most people were in the same boat and were as, if not more, nervous about it than I was. It's also handy for socialising, a few friends from home commute to Leeds Uni which is about 20/25 minutes from me and they said that was the only down side for them, but they certainly enjoyed having the spare £4000 or so from not renting  on the flip side of this, there were people in my halls who I swear only came out of their room to cook / go to lectures, so I think people make halls what they want it to be. I'm sure you'll be happy staying at home, I've just re-read that and it sounds a bit negative sorry, just make sure you join a few societies ect. and you'll be fine

 An interesting mini-life story at-least. Hmmm, I think ultimately, it was just a to daunting prospect for me though I am aware that people do there own thing in the Halls ie. be secluded if they wish to be so. Though that was also one of my biggest concerns, I couldn't deal with that, a small room practically becoming your prison cell. A friend told me of an almost hostile atmosphere in his halls room, were nobody even said a word to each other for a whole year. My mind has a tendency to dwell on negative stories I hear like that, unfortunantly :frown: I know that if I'd made the leap, I probably would have enjoyed it. £4000 certainly does sound nice to me

I'm sure you'll be happy with living at home, and having the spare £4000+ per year will definitely come in handy, best of luck!
