Is HL Econ necessary?
I would like to study Politics+Economics in University. I am considering the following options:
HL Math
HL English Lang + Lit (Group 1)
HL History
SL Economics
SL Chinese Lang + Lit (Group 2)
SL Chemistry
Do I need Economics HL?
Any responses and suggestions will be appreciated

Generally you could find requirements for admission at university websites. I am taking HL Economics right now and it's better than many of my other subjects. Although I don't take HL math I am going to guess that economics is far easier than HL math. It's certainly easier for me than SL math! It's also quite an interesting subject.
I guess you could take 4 HL's if your school allows or drop one subject to the SL level (I suggest replace HL math with HL economics!). Also here's a good site for videos on IB economics: http://www.econclassroom.com/
