Hi. I've just finished my first year of this course. It was very simple and easy to understand and I enjoyed it very much. However, you have to do many assignments and this could get quite tiring and the workload can be a bit much. But like I said, nothing is too complicated or confusing. I hope you enjoy the course as much as I did. Feel free to ask me any questions about the course if you need to. ^_^

Thanks so much!
How do you organise your notes?
How much time would you say you spend outside of college time on coursework?
Do you have any advice off us people starting now?
Thanks a lot, you're a star xx

I kept a folder for all the handouts we were given for the different units. I used dividers to separate the folder into little sections so I could organise the units properly. Your work will mostly just be done on the computer, so I would suggest you keep a USB just for all the coursework and use folders to once again divide the units.
As for the amount of time spent on coursework outside of college, if you are consistant and up-to-date with all of your work, you shouldn't have to spend more than around 5 hours a week on coursework. Obviously, this varies on how fast you write, how much research you need to do etc.
I will definitely advice you to keep up to date with your work. 5 units can be a lot to keep track of, but time needs to be given to each task. Make sure to hand in work well before the deadline. If you don't hand work in on time, you can only get 'Pass' for that unit. (The rules may be different in the college you are going to, but that is what they do here.)
Good luck. I wish you the best in your studies. By the way, what are you planning on doing after the course?
Hey! Congratulations:smile: I was just wondering, how many pieces of coursework is there in total in each year?
I'm studying this (again ) where is everyone thinking about doing their work placements? I would like to be a midwife so I am pretty unsure of where to do mine.

You're all so similar to me! I'm 18 upon starting. I did hairdressing then a year of AS's and I did top grades in coursework but flopped the exams. This course seems perfect as its care based and has the placements that will be great for me. I wanted to do Midwifery but now wondering if it would be better to do adult nursing then specialise.

I'm taking GCSE Biology alongside this on a night from 4:30 - 6:45pm something like that. I got a C in Core and D in additional and its not enough for University requirements. Doing single GCSE biology alongside this course will give me what I need to get into Unis of my choice rather than unis about 10 hours away haha

Yepp we're similar haha! I attempted AS levels last year, but they were so not for me, and I'm really looking forward to it! I've decided to retake Core Science, and I want to get at least a B, good luck with Biology, I'm sure it will be fine!

Yeah I'm much more focussed now. What career are you hoping to go into?

Depending on what grade you want (pass, merit, distinction, we had in year one... 9 units total  with 9 pieces of work each varying in size

Hows everyone finding the work so far and what are you doing for your assignments? We're doing health, safety and security and have so far for the first part had to make posters with the legislations and policies for a residential care home and we're doing diversity, equality and rights and for that the first assignment is a powerpoint related to a setting of your choice

I'm finding the work fine  The deadlines aren't as harsh as I expected. We're doing:
Unit 40 - dementia (almost done)
Unit 21 - Nutrition (halfway through)
Unit 1 - Communication (3/4 of the way through)

Aw I found unit 40 when I did the course
But I had some hands on experience with people suffering from dementia as my nan suffered from dementia before she died :frown: and at one of my placements was in a care home and it helped me when completing the unit

It does seem like a lot of work for only 5 credits but I'm not finding it difficult to be honest. The first task was long and sometimes challenging as not all the information could be found through reasearch but otherwise I'm finding it okay

I'm on task 3 P4. I need to get the unit done by Wednesday so I'll probably be spending a lot of today working on it

Ooh all completely units to me, my tutor went through with me what I'd need to get D*'s and your pretty much looking at Distinctions in every single unit. The 10 credit units award 90 points for Distinction and to get D*D*D* you need 1560 points overall in the 2 years haha. My first deadline is task 1 of Unit 2, due in next Thursday
