Chi-squared help please?

My assignment is based on habitat and i have data regarding the type and diameter of each tree in 2 different sites....a part of my assignment asks me to "use a chi-sqaured test to test whether the tree species occur in similar proportions at the two sites"... but im really confused which chi- sqaured test i need to use and what date i need to use...

can anyone help pretty pretty pretty please?

Id make h0 'the proportion of tree species A to tree species B is the same at both locations' and do a two tailed

Make a contingency table and then do a goodness of fit test - there should be plenty of info on this online of you google chi-squared contingency table. The chi-squared test is actually only a one-tailed test since you are squaring the difference between the observed and expected values.
