If I get a D in Physics, will I be accepted/allowed to continue it to A2?

Depends on your school.

I may be in a similar situation for some of my subjects and my plan is to self teach the first A2 units over the summer so I can show my teachers past papers I've done to persuade them to give me high predicted grades
In my previous sixth form, a C+ is a must if you want to continue it to A2.

Different policies for different schools!
In my 6th form the minimun grade to get into A2 is just a pass of the subject (an E grade or above) different sixth forms have different standards so I don't think this question can be easily answered.

My sixth form says we need a D to do an A2 in that subject, and it's a grammar school sixth form *shrug*.
Different schools are different, maybe talk to someone high up to ask if you could go through if your grades are Ds, promising you'll resit etc, and they might listen, especially if you're close to the passing grade.
Otherwise you may just have to go to a college or something to sit them, as colleges in general are more lenient.
