Student life as a postgrad

I'm due to start my masters in September - yay! I'm going to a different uni from my undergrad degree and I'll be commuting from home rather than living at the uni. I'm a bit concerned that I won't meet many people - because of commuting and because a full-time masters is going to be fairly intense.
Also, as I'm commuting, I'm not really sure if I'll be able to go out much in freshers week.

So, what's student life like for any postgrads out there? How much time do you spend socialising / do you do any societies etc?
These feel like silly concerns - I feel like I'm starting my undergrad all over again - but I thought I'd ask in case anyone else was wondering the same things.

Still possible to embrace the student lifestyle. Can vary to undergraduate based on course intensity but it's still possible.

We didn't really have Freshers' Week as Masters students. There was just Induction Week when we did all the admin and had a department tour plus a couple of introductory talks, then we were straight into lectures.

We started before the undergrads so by the time their Freshers' events kicked off, we were stuck in the library.
