Part-time Masters

Just wondering how much independent studying a week you would ideally need to do, not the minimum but what you really would need to be doing if you are doing it part-time?

I know this varies across courses, but would a Masters student have time to take part in any societies, as well as say a weekend job? It is something I never made time for in my undergraduate degree, as I would spend (by 3rd year especially) around 70 hours + working on course work/research. I would very much like to do so this time.

In the course details for my (intended) course it gave you an idea of how much time would be on campus and how much time would be self directed. It didn't seem to make sense with the two courses I was looking at as they were both the same timings but one was more practical so I asked the course leads directly. It ended up being slightly different to what's published on the website but it's actually quite vague anyway. Sorry it's not more helpful!
