A2 psychology the nature of sleep

Hi, my teacher has told me that in the unit 3 A2 exam we could get an essay question about the nature of sleep. I'm confused by this because it isn't explicitly adressed in my text book (i.e given its own spread) and my teacher hasn't prepared us for it either. Does any one know what kind of material you could use for it? I've heard that it usually means sleep stages and life span changes but because it isn't in my text book I am not entirely sure. Please help! Thank you in advance
