Business studies A2 a Growing economies question

I am so confused over this topic. Firstly, I get all the growth indicators like, GDP,literacy and health but if GDP grows, there is high literacy rates and good health in a country, does it mean the economy is growing. Also, for human development index, it measures statistics such as education, life expectancy and national gross income into an index. Does having higher index number a good thing and emphasises growth? Could you also explain the implications of economic growth for individuals and businesses?
