Cambridge HAA - Should I look at the provenance of the Extracts in Section 2?

For Section 2, I plan to compare and contrast the themes and ideas within the two extracts and my History teacher agrees with this, however, a few people in older threads on the HAA have suggested that you should analyse the provenance of the extracts. I'd really appreciate it if anyone who is planning to do the HAA or has done it could give me their thoughts on this.
I personally think this varies on the question. Looking at the past papers one appears to be more inclined to desire analysis of the provenance while another doesn't, based on the background given of the extracts. You have to remember this isn't a knowledge test but an aptitude test, so it's not your job to contextualise any extracts. I don't think you should focus too heavily on it as the specification doesn't mention it at all. But, it might look impressive if you can weave it into an existing point to back up an argument.
