Misconceptions about relationships

What misconceptions did you have about relationships before you got into one or what misconceptions have you encountered from others regarding your relationship?

For me, before I got into a relationship - I thought if you argued, you were pretty much doomed as a couple and that everything should pretty much be rainbows and sunshine 24/7. Now that I am in a relationship, I know that its only natural to argue and squabble and get on each others nerves from time to time. After a while, especially after living together, you do know which buttons to press to wind them up and you end up niggling and nagging each other. Its only when arguments become more than just a niggle and become serious, violent and/or abusive or constant, that it is a dangerous sign.

Misconception I have encountered from others about my own relationship would be that we are going to have kids soon because we got married recently. Nope, still sticking to cats
