What jobs would you find a turn on/off in a partner?

Eh I'm sort of on the fence here. I'd never judge my partner for their current job (within reason), I wouldn't not date somebody because they happen to be a bin woman or anything like that... but, I value ambition quite highly in a partner, I like to see a drive to succeed, so it's less about what they're doing now than it is about what they want to do in 10 years.

The bottom 3 I can understand

but why is a Police officer a turn off?

I've heard numerous reports on them being too controlling and extremely obsessive. I heard they cheat, lie and stalk a lot and abuse their power through relationships. I have read this on other forums.

oh and:

family violence is two to four times higher in the law-enforcement community than in the general population.

Accountant. Previous boyfriend. Unimaginably dull.

Butcher or anything working with killing/abusing animals would be a huge turn off for me. I respect that everyone makes their own choice about how they view animals, but I don’t think I could date someone who makes money off something I believe strongly against.

Can’t really think of anything specific that i’d like someone’s job to be. As long as they enjoyed it, I wouldn’t want to be around someone who complained about their job 24/7 but never did anything about it.

Oh god, here we go...

Traffic warden
Butcher
Accountant
Any job I couldn’t relate to really.
Why the hate on binmen? Is it the stigma of having a dirty job or something? It pays well and they've done the bulk of their work before the afternoon. It's a job that needs done and everyone benefits from it.

Probably the only turnoff jobs for me would be stripper / pornstar and if they were in those professions then we wouldn't really get on well anyway.

As a guy though what interests me is a girl having interesting job. Something that can be talked about. I'm hoping to have a career in design so anything related to that / is as interesting and big is pretty good.

Didn’t see that, sorry! Still probably best directed to the poster who mentioned it since everyone else on the thread hasn’t expressed an opinion about them.

I don't care as long as they don't have a job that allows them to cheat on me. (Have sex with others, such as a pornstar.)

Yes, this would pretty much be my stance too.
To me a man in a suit, working in an office sounds rather appealing. But I would not prevent dating someone just because of their job, well, as long as they weren’t a porn star or something. It’s all about personality at the end of the day
No particular career path but having no ambition is a turn off - if they were in a job they just fell into and had no enthusiasim about.

Oh actually military careers would put me off someone, sorry!

why did you tag me

I forgot to explain this after I wrote my post. what I usually do is only read all the replies starting from the last page then I write my post then read all the other pages aftetwards or I just read the op's thread and reply myself then read everyone else reply after so I didn't see your name before and tagged you because I thought you had not seen the thread and thought you would be interested to see it and was curious what jobs you would choose. But it was only after I wrote my post that I saw you were already on it.
