Year 12s: what will be the first way you research your future options? >>

advise on what to do after semester 2 of CS.

I am currently a first year computer science student and i was wondering, what is the best thing to do during the summer? i am trying to find summer internships but they all want students that are in their penultimate year. I really want to improve my CV as i hardly have any experience.

any advise would be appreciated.

You'll be in a bit of a difficult situation regarding internships at this point. They want students with higher skills to potentially be involved in the company after the summer in general.

What you're probably best doing at this stage is either looking at more informal work experience, revising to make yourself a strong candidate next year or picking up general work vaguely related to computer science.

I had a brilliant couple of summers in web design. It wasn't ideal but it built up a skill set that carried me through quite a few jobs after graduation.
