What are the deciding factors in which a university decides to give you an offer.

So many; to name a few:

- A-level and GCSE grades (or equivalent)
- Personal statement
- References
- A level subject choices
- Other exams (if required) e.g. LNAT or BMAT
- How competitive that course is that year i.e. how many spaces the university has
- The strength of the applications of other students relative to yours

What do you mean about subject choices

Some a-level subjects are seen as 'stronger' than others, especially for specific courses. Don't let anyone tell you that uni's don't do it like that anymore, they do.

e.g. let's say someone applies for a History degree: they would look better to the unis with the a-level subjects History, English lit and Psychology than another History applicant who did Chemistry, Design and Computing
So for a life science degree would chemistry biology and btec engineering be okay?
