Year 12 wondering about UCAT

I’m in year 12 and I’m wondering when I’ll need to apply for UCAT and if so is it needed for medicine
UCAT is an entrance test required by most Medical schools except for Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL and Brighton and Sussex, all of which use bMAT instead,

You should start studying for your UCAT in the summer of Y12 and book the test for the last week of August/first week of Sept. Make sure you give yourself enough time to feel confident enough to write it. You can reschedule your test if you feel worried but be aware that test slots get booked very quickly and are hard to find when rescheduling.

It's a different entrance test as it does not require A Level/scientific knowledge. So, you will need 6-8 weeks of studying the material and working under the timed exam conditions to get used to it. You can also only take it once each year. You can read more about it on the official UCAT Pearson website
