Meaning of * in texting (other than correcting grammar)

What's the meaning of * in chat? EG * on OR * too

Usually it's to indicate a change, like if I typed accidentally wrote 'tome' but meant 'time' I'd wrote it as 'time*' like correcting mistakes

Any other meaning besides correcting grammar?
could you give some examples, not sure what you mean.
It can also mean an action so like *hugs you*

this doesn't help, still have no idea what you're talking about.

they might have typed the wrong word or autocorrect and saying they meant too instead? no idea.

Asterisks are also used in place of a times sign for multiplication

Thank you for your replies, I ended up realising it was used just to correct grammar.
