That’s my worst nightmare! When do you have to be in Oxford by?

I’m so worried that’ll happen to me as I’m coming quite ‘last minute’ (only 30 mins before I have to actually be in the college). If that happens what do I do?

I don’t have to be in the college until 10am tomorrow but it’s such a pain having to get so many random trains - the one I was meant to be getting from Birmingham to oxford has now been cancelled :/

Are you there yet?

nope, I’m at Birmingham now - so it’ll be another hour or so.
I doubt if you will have interviews in the evening. Coming tonight is just a settling in period where you will meet students and helpers. Time to unpack then do some socialising!
you know what's strange? I probably met some of you in person and didn't even know that I had spoken to your avatars on this app )))
Can't seem to find ANY info on how other applicants found the interviews! How did you guys do?

I’m pretty sure I messed mine up, I’m a lot better at character judging interviews rather than more academic interviews. I had stuff to say but they rebutted my every answer. While maybe that’s what they are supposed to do, it’s impossible to be aware of how I’ve done. I tried to present myself more as a teachable pupil than an omniscient kid but idk how it was perceived 😅😭

I didn't even say ANYTHING! It's so weird, I legit didn't open my mouth at all. Did you do Oxford/Cambridge? I meant Oxford but it's interesting to hear a Cambridge POV!

Sorry mine was Oxford, Hertford college for Law. Did you actually say nothing, even when they asked you questions?

I just realised this is the Oxford thread wtf I'm dumb
I spent so much time just asking them to clarify the questions they asked. The second interview which for me was pre-reading I at least kind of tried, my mouth was probably only hanging open for 50% of the time. For the first which was an extract during the interview, I literally couldn't even think or process.

I’m sorry to hear that. Well I didn’t do great either, but I’m sure we’ll both end up somewhere awesome anyway

My first interview went TERRIBLY. I had a 30 minute pre-reading & I honestly do not think I could have sounded more stupid if I tired (I literally mumbled my way through). My second one, however, went really well. I had an extract to read in the interview & luckily it was on a super nice topic. Still, I think the first interview completely ruined my chances.

That sounds good to me. Tbh one really good interview could make up for a bad one. At least you had one really really good one!

The more they challenge and push you, the better it is, actually

Ahaha the more I think of it, I don’t even think the second one went that well. I was still speechless at times - just not as often as in the first one.

I hope I get an offer from LSE, bc with the rejection from oxford, I don’t really think I want to go anywhere else :/

I had a very similar experience. the interviewers spent about 20 minutes trying to clarify with me what the arguments from the extract were, and by the time they finally got to ask me a question, I was so confused that I couldn't say a thing. I was still trying to understand what the question was, but then they said they ran out of time.

It was honestly embarrassing, it all couldn’t have gone worse and the fact that everyone else said they did well and they got the answers (the interviewers told us at the end the ‘answers’ to questions) and was actually able to say SOMETHING stressed me out
