Are you sure there isn't a minimum you need to get? Many require you to pass both 'bits'

You need to get 45% [23/50] but you haven't understood what I said ... some unis say you must pass the exam part AND the coursework.

Yes correct but I'm doing a foundation course so it's different.
How did you work it out my friends are stuck xx

OK -

[CW mark x 3] + [exam % x 7] = 500

So exam % needed = [500 - [ 3 x CW]] / 7

Did you try substituting into the formula I gave you?

So exam % needed = [500 - [ 3 x CW]] / 7

= {500 - [54 x 3]]/7
= [500 - 162]/7 = 338/7
= 48.3%

So your friend needs 49% or 25/50; if we assume they don't round up.
