Financial help

Hi, my next funding from SFE will come in at the end of April, however I need rent money now. I will be starting a job next week but Im left with nothing right now. I wanted to ask if there is any support available? I was even thinking of taking a small loan which I would repay when I get the money but I do not have any guarantor, please help

Hi Jac000b,

If you get in touch with your university they may be able to offer a hardship fund.

This is for students that require some additional funding for necessities like you do right now.

There is an application process usually so please bare this in mind. It should still be faster than waiting for payday / SF payment.

I hope this helps.

This is a good piece of advice, Patrick! I faced a similar issue last year. I didn't have money, and I was going to start working only in two weeks. Of course, the only way out was to borrow a little money somewhere. Unfortunately, my family and friends couldn't help me, so I got a Maggly payday loan. Many people are afraid of its rate, but I asked for an advance when I began working and was able to repay my debt fast. I should say, I didn't overpay much (at least less than I thought). But I didn't know about a University hardship fund. Thanks for enlightening, I'll bear this info in mind, just in case. And I'm sure, many students will find it helpful.
