Doctoral Loan

Hi

On government website I see that one will not be eligible for doctoral loan if they are behind in repayments for any previous loans from the Students Loan Company. This can be seen here: https://www.gov.uk/doctoral-loan/eligibility
So does that mean the students who have finished their undergraduate and perhaps their masters with the student finance that they get from the government will not be eligible to get doctoral loan until they pay what they have borrowed during undergraduate and masters degrees?

No

It means that if you have failed to pay when asked by SLC then you will not be eligible. In arrears doesn't mean "in debt" it means "haven't paid on the date payments were due".

If you have paid SLC when they have requested payment (usually through PAYE) then you will be eligible.
