Civil Engineering Personal Statement

I am applying for Civ Eng.

Are there any PS anywhere on the web or has anyone on here done one?

I am having trouble finding an opening sentence.

What do you think of this opening paragraph:

My interest in Civil Engineering has emerged from visiting areas in the UK and Europe and witnessing innovative and creative designs. I was amazed by the size of structures such as bridges, buildings and stadiums and I was interested in finding out more about how these structures are designed, tested and built.

I'm applying to Manchester, Leeds, Shef, Nottingham, Imperial College. Are these Unis good? What is the Manchester Uni facilities like?

And i need one more uni to add to make up my 6. Any reccomendations?
